During the wedding ceremony, the Priest will ask the bride and groom to take seven steps together, each step accompanied by a specific vow or promise they make to each other and to the divine witness, Lord Agni.  Seven individual Saptapadi Supadis are required. On each step the bride will touch one of the seven individual Saptapadi Supadis placed at regular intervals along a straight line with her right toe.
